Basic Chili Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 12oz can of tomatoes
  • 1 6oz can of tomato puree
  • 1 12oz can of kidney beans
  • 1 12oz can of black beans
  • 1 bulb of garlic
  • 1.5 pounds lean beef (or a little more for awesome protein)
  • 1 large white onion

Seasonings:

  • Chili powder
  • Cumin
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika

You can also substitute the beef for turkey and it will be okay, no one will judge you besides me.

Instructions:

Step 1:

  1. Dice the white onion and prepare the garlic.
  2. Sautee the onion and garlic with oil/butter for about 5 minutes or until you can smell the garlic PUNGENTLY.
  3. Add the meat to the pot and cook until it’s brown. Use medium heat and season the beef if seasoning is desired.

Step 2:

  1. Add tomato puree and some water to the pot (measurements are not specified).
  2. Mix the concoction until it’s consistent.
  3. Add the can of tomatoes.
  4. Add about ⅔’s of each can of beans, discard the rest.

Step 3:

  1. Turn up the heat to bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. While heating, add salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, and paprika to taste. Use more chili powder and cumin than you think you need.
  3. Boil for 30 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 4:

  1. Add cheese, sour cream, or whatever u want to it, it is your life, not mine.
  2. Eat.
